Installation guide

You are currently using a browser where the installation of the FAU Community Web App is done via the browser menu (add to home screen).

This works straightforwardly, just note the following points:

General requirement

 → Allow shortcuts to the Home screen of your smartphone in your browser.

If this is not already the case, granting permission usually works via the “Settings” of your browser. In the Settings, select “Permissions”, if necessary also “Other permissions”, click on “Home screen shortcuts” and “Always allow”. Now, to install the app in your browser, please follow the instructions below.

Select your browser

→ Samsung browser

  1. At the bottom of the browser, click the three-dash menu, select +Add page to → Home screen.
  2. You will now see the “FAU Community” app icon on your Home screen.

→ Opera browser

  1. In the browser, click the three-dot menu at the top, select +Add to → Home screen.
  2. A window will open: Add to home screen “FAU Community”. Confirm with Add.
  3. You will now see the “FAU Community” app icon on your Home screen.

→ Ecosia browser

  1. Do not use the incognito mode.
  2. In the browser, click the three-dot menu at the top, select Add to → Home screen (Or: “Install app”)
  3. A window will open: Install app. Confirm with Install.
  4. You will now see the “FAU Community” app icon on your Home screen.

→ Edge browser

  1. At the bottom of the browser, click the three-dash menu, select +Add page to → Home screen.
  2. A window will open: Install app. Confirm with Install.
  3. You will now see the “FAU Community” app icon on your Home screen.

→ Brave browser

  1. In the browser, click on the three-dash menu at the bottom and select Add to phone.
  2. A window will open: Install app. Confirm with Install.
  3. You will now see the “FAU Community” app icon on your Home screen.

Note: Firefox mobile browsers and those based on Firefox currently do not yet support the Progressive Web Apps (PWA) codex. Please use Chrome or one of the browsers listed above instead.

Your app is now ready

Open the app by clicking on the “FAU Community” icon and log in with your usual FAU Community data. You will need an internet connection.
